Today we are going to eulogize Boxer. A eulogy is defined as a speech or piece of writing that praises someone or something highly, typically someone who has just died. As we all know by now, Boxer is no longer with us; however, his memory lives on!
Imagine that you are one of the animals (not the pigs or the dogs), and you wanted to gather in secret to give a eulogy that praises Boxer. Create a Google doc to write out the eulogy, then submit it to the assignment page.
Include the following in your speech:
FIRST PARAGRAPH:
Introduce who Boxer was and what he was known for
Describe at least two heroic acts of Boxer that we read about in the book
Describe how Boxer was injured in Chapter 9
SECOND PARAGRAPH:
Describe what happened when the van came, how Boxer tried to escape, and why he failed.
Explain the lie that Squealer gave about Boxer’s final words, and the lie he gave about the van.
Explain what you know to be the truth about what happened to Boxer
Explain where you think the pigs got the money for the whisky
THIRD PARAGRAPH:
Explain how you think Boxer would want to be remembered on Animal Farm
Give your opinion on how Animal Farm has changed from when the rebellion happened. What caused things to change on the farm? What do you think Boxer should have done differently.
Describe what the animals must do to improve their situation on the farm.
